Shannon Cochran – Soprano
Originally from a small town in Iowa, Dr. Shannon Cochran is a professional singer, actor, and teacher. After completing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in May 2021, she started teaching voice, lyric diction, and opera workshop at Northern Kentucky University. Her teaching experience spans over a decade, teaching voice lessons and acting sessions through private studios and in the greater Cincinnati area. She has experience teaching all genres and styles of singing with the teaching philosophy of focusing on the individual finding their own truest voice.
This past summer, she performed with Four Corners Musical Theatre as Marian in The Music Man and Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance. Also at Four Corners, she workshopped a new musical as Gloria Worth in Gene Kelly’s Lost Musical in March of 2022. Her other recent performances include, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos at CCM, Miss Jessel in Turn of the Screw, and Cunegonde in Candide. In addition to opera, she has performed frequently in the musical theatre world. Her professional theatre credits include Fiona in Shrek! The Musical at Great Plains Theatre, Ms. Pemberton in The Orphan Train under the direction of Patricia Birch, Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray and Rapunzel in Into the Woods at Way Off Broadway. |
Kimberly Brotherton – Soprano
Hailing from Elba, NY, Dr. Brotherton is an active soloist and music educator in the Cincinnati/Dayton area. Dr. Brotherton graduated from Ithaca College (New York) where she received a bachelor’s degree in voice performance. She went on to earn a master’s degree and D.M.A. at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. While at CCM, Dr. Brotherton performed Elettra in Mozart’s Idomeneo, Diana in Gluck’s Iphigénie en Tauride, Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Ariadne in Richard Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos, and covered Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Iphigénie in Gluck’s Iphégenie en Tauride. She made her debut with the Queen City Chamber Opera as Sieglinde in Wagners Die Walküre, Act 1. Other roles include Magda in Menotti’s The Consul and Dorabella in Così fan tutte. Dr. Brotherton has trained as a studio artist with Chautauqua Opera, where she covered Giannetta in Donizetti’s Elixir of Love. At the end of her time at Chautauqua, she was the recipient of the Ed Harmon Young Artist Award. Dr. Brotherton made her debut with the Asheville Symphony, in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
Dr. Brotherton has taught Applied Voice at Wright State University and Wittenberg University. She currently teaches Applied Voice at CCM; Music History at Cincinnati State; and is a soloist at Armstrong Chapel. |
Kevin Bell – Group Class Instructor
Kevin Bell is a native of Baton Rouge, LA. After training with the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre and the Joffrey Ballet School. He founded the Miami Valley Ballet Theatre in a northern suburb of Cincinnati where many declared that a ballet company would not survive. It is a thriving regional company which performs to sold out audiences season after season. Kevin has also worked with numerous regional modern choreographers, performing frequently in the annual Area Choreographers Festival hosted by Cincinnati’s very own Contemporary Dance Theater. Kevin has performed in musicals such as Anything Goes, the Music Man, Brigadoon, Shrek, and Cincinnati Children’s Theaters recent production of Peter Pan, Jr. Kevin was principal choreographer for the Cincinnati Music Theater’s recent production of Billy Elliot. For a number of seasons, Kevin danced the role of Uncle Drosselmeyer in Dela’s production of The Nutcracker All Jazzed Up. This will Be Kevin’s 6th year working with Cincinnati Academy of Performing Arts.

Hillary Hahn - Group Class Instructor
Hillary Hahn is an indie singer-songwriter located in Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition to writing and performing her own songs she also writes and illustrates children's books and musicals. Hillary hails from Independence, Kentucky and has been gigging in Cincy for the last 9 years! Her passion for music led her to move to New York City at age 20 where she performed on many small + indie stages. Eventually she moved out to Boulder, Colorado where she worked as the head of the dance department for a children's theater all while continuing her songwriting pursuit in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. In the 5 years since returning to Cincinnati, she have released 2 (5 song) EP's (+one single), several music videos, one children's book and 5 children's mini-musicals. Hillary is eager and excited to tackle this next decade in her career having just turned 30! |
Arianna Catalano - Group Class Instructor
Arianna Catalano is a recent graduate of Northern Kentucky University, where she received her BFA in Musical Theatre and Minor in Dance. She began dancing at the age of two and taught her first dance class at the age of 14. She has won numerous choreography, entertainment, and title awards including "Teen Miss Believe" at Believe National Talent Competition. Now that she's graduated, she enjoys performing at various theatre's in the Cincinnati area. When not performing, she dabbles in baking and loves spoiling her two year old cat. Arianna is thrilled to be teaching with CAPA this year and hopes your children enjoy "Fun with Theatre”! |
