Audition Date: Saturday May 3, 2025

Week 1 - June 2-6 (9am-2pm)
Week 2 - June 9-13 (9am-2pm)
*Note last day of camp 6/13 runs 1p-5p)

Auditions are not required, however if you would like to be considered for a role you must audition. All students that do not audition will still be an integral part of the camp and will be in the shows ensemble. You must be registered for the camp to participate in the auditions. If you would like to audition for a role but are unavailable on the audition dates or you have other questions regarding auditions, please email [email protected].
Audition format: Each student auditioning are asked to prepare a 1-minute song from a musical theatre show or any song that best shows your vocal range. Student will sing a cappella (no tracks, no accompaniment) and have your song memorized. If student would like to be considered for a part with lines, please prepare from script materials found below. Audition will run as follows: Upon arrival student/parent will fill out audition form. Students will audition in groups of 6 to 8. At the beginning of their audition time slot all students will learn short dance - dress in comfortable clothes, no Crocs or sandals. If you can tumble wear appropriate clothing. If interested in reading for a part, student will read as well. Singing and script reading follows dance portion if interested in a part with lines. Below are samples scripts to prepare if you would like a part with lines. Also, you will find show character breakdown.

Character Breakdown
Alex the Lion: The main attraction at the Zoo and “The King Of New York” – a true showman
Marty the Zebra: Dreams of exploring beyond the confines of the zoo, Alex’s best friend. Gloria the Hippo: Bold young lady with a maternal streak who shines.
Melman the Giraffe: Kind-hearted giraffe who is a hypochondriac and always just a little bit nervous.
Skipper the Penguin: Captain of the group, gives orders with ease and command. Kowalski the Penguin: Skipper’s second-in-command.
Rico the Penguin: Brute of the group of penguins – can karate chop anything in site! Private the Penguin: Primary job is to maintain the cute and fuzzy disguise. Zookeepers: Have a real passion and excitement for the animals.
Mason the Chimp: Though highly intelligent, his species gets a bad reputation for being simple, which he takes personally.
King Julien: King of the Lemurs, a wild band of creatures native to Madagascar. Maurice the Lemur: King Julien’s assistant who is not welcoming to the visitors. Mort the Lemur: The littlest lemur who can barely speak. Lemur gang
Lynn, Lew, Lee and Lars: more silly lemurs
