CAPA held its summer dance camp for the second summer and saw growth double from summer 2023! Twenty-five students participated in the 7 week day camp held at the Contemporary Dance Theater is College Hill. Camp ran Monday through Thursday, 9am-2pm and provided free lunch to the students. Students worked on all types of dance genres from contemporary to ballet to tap ....and of course, Afro-Caribbean inspired ballet that is the speciality of lead teacher Flora Leptak-Moreua, of Ballet Caraibes Dance Studio. Students participated in Northside's traditional July 4th parade - and were featured in the Cincinnati Enquirer! Camp culminated with a dance recital for family and friends on July 19. The camp is free to students and a highlight of their summer - said one parent "My daughter just loves coming to this camp, she can't wait to continue dance class in the fall". CAPA also offers free after school dance classes at Chase Elementary during the school year and many of the students in the camp are from Chase Elementary.
