Creating Character is an arts education class full of fun and imagination. Students will explore the stories they have to tell, create their own dynamic characters, and learn to act them out. This class offers personal growth in the areas of confidence, observation, communication, creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and self-expression. Students will also learn about story structure and the principles of staged theatre. The last day of class will culminate in a performance for family and friends. Motion & Movement is for the child who is always dancing around to music at home! In our Motion & Movement class your child will continue to grow their love for dance by exploring new movement to music surrounded by friends and a nurturing teacher. Rhythm, musicality, spacial intelligence, creativity, and flexibility are only a few things that will be covered in our Motion & Movement class. This class is open to any interested student in Grades 1-2. Skills and styles will be explored and become more challenging throughout the session and will end with a presentation for families and friends to celebrate the end of the fall session. PRIMARY PLAYERS WITH CAPA! Grades 1-2 |

CAPA is bringing back this beloved choral class that’s been a IH Primary School tradition 20+ years but stopped during Covid. This is an after school class for 2nd graders who love to sing! Through weekly warm-ups, games and other relevant activities students will learn foundational singing skills, collaboration with others and team work. We will work on individual pieces of music, that will culminate in a performance at the end of the session. For grade 2 students. Students will follow the Ohio Music Ed standards: Creating: Artists/students use creative thinking and reasoning skills to perceive concepts and ideas to develop works. Performing: Artists/students employ personal processes and skills to solve problems creatively and present work in various contexts. Responding: Artists/students engage in analysis and interpretation to understand and evaluate artistic works. Building on the themes and scenes from "Wizard of Oz" , students will explore the stories they have to tell, create their own dynamic characters, and learn to act them out. This class offers personal growth in the areas of confidence, observation, communication, creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and self-expression. Students will also learn about story structure and the principles of staged theatre. The last day of class will culminate in a performance for family and friends. Poetry In Motion -The fusion of storytelling and dance. In this class, students will explore the relationship between movement, dance, and narrative in various forms of storytelling. Drawing inspiration from the worlds of Roald Dahl and Shel Silverstein, students will engage in physical exercises, improvisation, and creative writing exercises to learn how to use movement as a tool to convey emotions, themes, and create characters. They will also examine how dance and physicality can enhance the overall narrative structure, contribute to the audience's understanding of the story, and apply this knowledge to create more dynamic and compelling stories.
